Biosketch
Dr. Woodle is Professor of Surgery and Director of the Division of Transplantation in the Department of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Israel Penn International Tumor Transplant Registry for the last decade, and is a founding member of the Paired Donation Network.
Dr. Woodle received his under graduate degree at Texas A&M University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed fellowships in kidney and pancreas transplantation as well as liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Chicago, and was an NIH Surgical Research Fellow at both the University of California, Davis and at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Woodle is a member of over 30 scientific and professional societies, including the American Surgical Association. He has chaired several committees in the American Society of Transplantation and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Transplantation.
Dr. Woodle has published over 230 scientific articles and 20 book chapters in the field of transplantation. He has been the recipient of NIH research grants in immunobiology and has received a Clinician Scientist Research Award from the American Heart Association. Dr. Woodle has served on several NIH study sections, and several FDA Committees that regulate immunosuppressive drug approval. He has also served on trial design committees for a number of multicenter studies, and has served as lead investigator in several multicenter trials. Dr. Woodle has made seminal contributions in the areas of immunosuppressive drug development, corticosteroid elimination, paired kidney donation, and posttransplant malignancies.
