Biosketch
Joseph T. Giacino, Ph.D. is the Director of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, he was the Associate Director of Neuropsychology at the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute - Center for Head Injuries and the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center. While at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, he was instrumental in the development of the centers’ Coma Intervention Program and has been a significant contributor to its growth over the last two decades. Dr. Giacino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences and also served on the faculty of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He has been integrally involved in the neuropsychology, neurology and physiatry residency training programs throughout his career. Dr. Giacino serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation and as an ad hoc reviewer for Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Brain, Nature Reviews-Neuroscience, Neurology, Journal of Neurotrauma, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, Lancet, Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation.
