Needs Statement

Stigma and discrimination remain large barriers to care access and care quality for pregnant and parenting people with substance use disorder.

Target Audience

Healthcare professionals interested in successful quality improvement initiatives that could be implemented in delivery hospitals.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

• Give an example of stigma
• Describe how stigma affects substance use disorder treatment receipt
• Name one practice which can increase empathy

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Kentucky HealthCare CECentral and the Kentucky Department of Public Health.
