Needs Statement

Pediatric healthcare providers need knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children resulting in improved outcomes. Professional healthcare providers use PALS during the stabilization and transportation phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of a hospital.

The PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

Target Audience

Healthcare providers who assess and treat pediatric patients in emergency situations.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.
