Needs Statement

The KY HANDS Program supports families as they build healthy, safe environments for the optimal growth and development of children. The vision is that Every child is wanted and cared for in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

Target Audience

This course targets physicians, midwives, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, community health workers, peer support specialists, social workers, doulas, emergency medical technicians, pharmacists, public health officials, and dentists.

Objectives

Upon Completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Define how adverse child experiences (ACEs) and social determinants of health impact families.
2. Identify the different components of HANDS service delivery.
3. Associate how HANDS home visiting services positively impact families through supporting positive pregnancy outcomes, optimal child development, healthy homes, and family self-sufficiency.
