Welcome
Welcome to the Study Resource Portal for the “KY LEADS: Implementation of Quality Lung Cancer Screening” research study.
We are pleased to partner with CE Central to offer this customized portal to house our study training modules and a resource library for lung cancer screening programs. The target audience of this content extends to the multidisciplinary health professionals at participating study sites who are involved in LC Screening programs and research across the state of Kentucky. These include the radiologists, pulmonologists, surgeons, patient navigators, research nurses/coordinators, referring primary care physicians and others engaged in the implementation and management of the LC Screening program at your institution.
Our hope is that the content of this study resource portal will be useful to participating sites in the planning, development, operations and management of LC Screening programs.

Study Overview

The mission of the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative is to reduce the burden of lung cancer in Kentucky through development, evaluation, and dissemination of novel, community-based interventions to promote education, survivorship care, and prevention and early detection of lung cancer. This collaborative effort, led by Dr. Jamie Studts of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, consists of a portfolio of three distinct studies: one in primary care physician education, a study on survivorship care, and a third study in prevention and early detection of lung cancer. The prevention and early detection study, “KY LEADS: Implementation of Quality Lung Cancer Screening,” is an interventional research study designed to examine the factors that influence implementation of lung cancer screening.
The purpose of the “KY LEADS: Implementation of Quality Lung Cancer Screening” study is to facilitate lung cancer care by assisting LC Screening programs in implementing best practices in LC Screening by integrating quality components. Best practices include the integration of key components into screening programs (i.e. screening protocols, screening navigator, care coordination pathways, treatment of tobacco addiction counseling, exposure to second-hand smoke, radon prevention, patient navigation, shared decision making).
Study Aims:
- Integrate recommendations from evidence based standards and guidelines to establish programmatic elements of high quality LC Screening in Kentucky
- Deliver implementation strategies (i.e. resources, training, feedback) to facilitate adoption and implementation of LC Screening programs in diverse settings throughout Kentucky
- Evaluate implementation outcomes in the context of contemporary dissemination and implementation research tools
An essential component of this study is to establish dialogue and platforms within our study to share and learn from the expertise and experiences of participating sites. We will utilize a variety of approaches to facilitate and invite ongoing connections with one another as we work together to ensure the availability of high quality LC Screening throughout Kentucky.
As part of the outcomes measurement process, please complete the Pre-test prior to participating in these module-based webcasts. This helps us gather information about current practice ideals and knowledge gained through this webcast series on LC Screening. It also assists us in the analysis of this project and guides future educational activity development.
