From Manchester, KY, Dr. Ballard obtained a BS in Pre-Medical Biology with a minor in chemistry at Eastern Kentucky University in 2014, then graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2018. She completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology in 2019. Dr. Ballard holds a clinical title series appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky, where she performs primary care eye exams, urgent eye care, and low vision services. Dr. Ballard is an active Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is active in the Kentucky Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

She went on to complete residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University where she developed a keen interest in palliative care and providing patients with dignity at the end of life. A passionate teacher who was involved in the inception of the Internal Medicine residency program in Bowling Green in 2014 and continues to contribute to the education of residents in that program.

Dr. Crossbourne now practices hospitalist medicine in various locations with US Acute Care Solutions.

Doctor Key Douthitt is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency training at the University of Kentucky, East Kentucky Family Medicine residency program and practiced in Jackson, Kentucky for 7 years before returning to the UK Department of Family and Community Medicine as an assistant professor in 2016. He currently serves as medical director of the University of Kentucky North Fork Valley Community Health Center in Hazard, Kentucky where he created and serves as the primary clinician of a multi-disciplinary diabetes clinic. He has presented locally and internationally for his work in the care of underserved populations and in his work with resident diabetes education.

Ty J. Gluckman is Medical Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Analytics, Research, and Data Science (CARDS) at the Providence Heart Institute in Portland, Oregon, and an adjunct faculty member of the Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

His principal clinical interests include identifying, coordinating, and implementing cardiovascular care improvement strategies. He has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific articles, reviews, and book chapters. His work has been published in several high-impact journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, Circulation Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA Cardiology, Journal of the American Heart Association, and New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst. He served as co-chair of the 2022 American College of Cardiology Expert Consensus Decision Pathway on Cardiovascular Sequelae of COVID-19 in Adults.

He previously served as Associate Editor of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Associate Editor for Guidelines and Clinical Documents for ACC.org, the primary web site for the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and chair of the ACC’s Solution Set Oversight Committee, overseeing policy and clinical documents issued by the ACC. He is immediate past Governor for the Oregon Chapter of the ACC and a board member of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC). He previously served as national chair of the ACC Patient Navigator Program-Focus MI and the ACC’s Quality Summit. He is a member of the Operations Committee of the American Heart Association (AHA) COVID-19 CVD Registry, a liaison for the AHA’s Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research (QCOR), and a site member of the AHA’s Target: Aortic Stenosis initiative. Finally, he was lead developer for the Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) Risk Estimator app.

Archana Kudrimoti attended medical school at Osmania Medical College Hyderabad India (MBBS Degree 1992), with additional post graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology (MD) at Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, India (1994).She came to United States in 1996 and made Kentucky her home since then.

She completed a Family Medicine Residency from 1999–2002 at University of Louisville and was elected as Chief Resident in the final year of residency (2001–02). She sought additional training in Master’s in Public Health (MPH) at University of Louisville and a Fellowship in Geriatrics in 2002- 2004.

Dr. Kudrimoti joined the University of Kentucky as Assistant Professor at the UK Residency Program in Hazard KY (2005- 2009). She served as the Medical Director for the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center for 2 years while residing at Hazard. She moved to Lexington in 2009 and has been practicing primary care and Geriatrics for the past 15 years at UK Healthcare in Lexington. She also spent the last 15 years teaching medical students and training resident physicians. She is currently the Residency Program director at UK Family Medicine Residency, Lexington Campus.

Sarah Marks, MD, MA, FAAFP

A Lexington native, Dr. Sarah Marks graduated from UK with a Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics and English. She received her Master of Arts in linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then returned to UK for medical school. She completed her family medicine residency at St. Joseph Family Medicine Residency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She worked in medical student education and the Interprofessional Teaching Clinic at the University of Kansas before coming to the University of Kentucky in 2019. At UK, Dr. Marks is the associate program director and maternity care director in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and is focused on residency education and curriculum design. Her clinical interests include LGBTQ* health, women’s health, substance use disorders and family centered maternity care and she is one class away from completing a Master of Education degree.

Dr, Marks joined the University of Kansas Family Medicine department's Interprofessional Teaching Clinic and the Family Medicine Clerkship before coming back to UK.

Dr. Sally V. Mathias graduated from Father Muller Medical College in India and completed neurology residency at University of Kentucky, followed by a fellowship in epilepsy at Vanderbilt University. She is double board certified, in neurology and epilepsy. She is currently an Associate Professor at University of Kentucky and Associate Program Director of the Adult Neurology Residency. Dr Mathias holds a dual appointment at the Veterans Health Administration in Lexington, KY where she is the chief of neurology service and site director for neurology residency. She enjoys being a physician educator and has received several teaching and mentorship awards in the last 5 years including the 2023 A. B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award by the American Academy of Neurology.

Her clinical interests are epilepsy surgery, women’s epilepsy and epilepsy in the elderly. Dr. Mathias is actively involved in clinical research at the University. In 2020, she received the Kimford J. Meador award at the American Epilepsy Society annual meeting for her research in women’s epilepsy. In 2015, she received the Quality and Safety Award by the American Academy of Neurology and Young Investigator Award by the American Epilepsy Society. She is also a member of several committees within the university, VA and on a national level.

Elizabeth Rhodus, PhD, OTR/L

Dr. Rhodus engages in research aimed at improving lives of older adults with neurodegenerative disorders at Sanders Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky, a nationally recognized National Institute of Health Center of Excellence for research specific to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

She holds a PhD in Gerontology and is also an occupational therapist with specialization in dementia care and care provider training. She has developed a line of research related to behavioral management in dementia care, sensory-based assessment and intervention, and environmental aspects related to behaviors associated with dementia. Dr. Rhodus values meaningful and empathetic care provision for individuals who suffer from cognitive impairment.

Nicholas Van Sickels, MD

Dr. Van Sickels grew up in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas, Austin, he was accepted into the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky. Following graduation, he was accepted into internal medicine residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. After his chief resident year, he remained at Tulane for Infectious Diseases Fellowship, and transitioned to become a faculty member in the infectious diseases section through 2016. He then served as the Chief Medical Officer at CrescentCare, a Federally Qualified Health Center in New Orleans, through 2022. In August of 2022 he returned to Lexington, where he is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at the University of Kentucky.

Rishi K. Wadhera, MD MPP MPhil is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Associate Professor of Health Policy & Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is also a practicing cardiologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. As the Associate Director of the Smith Center for Outcomes Research at BIDMC, Dr. Wadhera oversees a large research program focused on health care policy, population health, and cardiovascular outcomes. Dr. Wadhera has authored >200 peer-reviewed publications to date, many of which have appeared in leading journals (New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA). He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of three R01 grants from the National Institutes of Health NIH) and the American Heart Association (Established Investigator Award). Dr. Wadhera has mentored >40 medical students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty and is a recipient of the Harvard Medical School Excellence in Mentoring Award. He serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC), as well as on standing expert advisory panels for the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), the National Committee of Quality Assurance, and American Heart Association (AHA) Policy Statements focused on value-based care. Dr. Wadhera received his M.D. from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine as well as an M.Phil. in Public Health as a Gates Cambridge Scholar from the University of Cambridge. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and during this time, also received a Master’s in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
