Needs Statement
Medical Providers at Children's Advocacy Centers need ongoing education in order to provide medical care to children who have experienced sexual abuse. They need up to date information in order to diagnose and treat children referred to the CAC. They need to be aware of CAC quality measures and require the requisite skills to comply with those standards. Finally, they need skill in communicating their medical findings to other community partners. Providers need guidance speaking with children and caregivers about internet dangers. Providers need to be aware of updates to evidence collection procedures. Providers don't always order recommended STI testing and treatment . Participants struggle to answer
questions related to child sexual abuse in court. Physicians need to improve their ability to recognize signs of physical abuse.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Describe updates to the Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit
2. Identify signs of child physical abuse

5. Discuss how to answer challenging questions posed to them in court
