Biosketch
Jennifer Howard, PhD, ATC is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Health And Exercise Science at Appalachian State University. Dr. Howard previously served as an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Kentucky where she served as study coordinator for the University of Kentucky Center for Cartilage Repair and Restoration. She has mentored students in College of Health Sciences Post-Professional Athletic Training Education Program and Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program. Her primary research emphasis is the evaluation of clinical outcomes following knee surgery. She is particularly interested in identifying best practices for incorporating outcome measures into clinical practice in a manner that is meaningful to both the clinician and the patient. She has examined methodological considerations regarding the effect of response shift phenomenon on patient reported outcome scores, and examined the relationship between performance based measures of function and patient self-reported functional outcomes following articular cartilage repair and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
