Kathy W. Stein, JD

Stein has been a Democratic member of the Kentucky State Senate since 2009. She was Treasurer/Clerk for the Town of Wise. She was Elector-at-Large for the Virginia Electoral College.

Stein is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic & State University. She went on to earn her BA from Clinch Valley College at the University of Virginia. She later received her JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Stein was a Bookkeeper for Appalachian Film Workshop, "Appalshop". She worked as Teacher/Faculty Advisor/Chair/County Delegate for Pound High School of Wise County Public Schools. She also worked as Instructor for Clinch Valley College at the University of Virginia. She then worked as Associate Attorney for Marshall and Gullette. She worked as Staff Attorney for the Fayette County Public Defender and as Public Defender for Fayette County Legal Aid, Incorporated. Stein then worked as attorney for the Director of Domestic Violence Division for the Fayette County Attorney. She is attorney/owner of Kathy W. Stein, Attorney at Law.
