Education
Undergraduate: Adrian College (Adrian, MI)- Psychology/Business (BA)
Graduate: Michigan State University- Exercise Science (MS); Counseling Psychology (MA); Sport Psychology/Kinesiology (PhD)
Currently the Assistant Research Director for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports Medicine Concussion Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kontos has specialized in concussion research for the past 9 years, has 70 professional publications and 115 professional presentations, and has received funding from the Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, US Special Operations Command, National Football League Charities, and National Operating Committee of Standards for Athletic Equipment. His research focuses on concussion including neurocognitive and neuromotor effects; psychological issues; and concussion in military, pediatric, and sport populations. He is a fellow of the Eastern Psychological Association and an executive committee member of Division 47 of the American Psychological Association.
