Biosketch
Dr. Steven Docimo is the Chief Medical Officer at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC and Vice President for Children's Subspecialty Services. In his role as CMO, Dr. Docimo's primary responsibilities include the oversight of quality improvement and patient safety as well as serving as the hospital's spokesperson on medical issues. Dr. Docimo is part of the executive management group for the hospital and closely collaborates with pediatric physician leaders to set medical policy and ensure that Children's Hospital continues to provide world-class patient care.
Dr. Docimo is an experienced educator, clinician and academician. He is a tenured professor of pediatric urology. Until recently, Dr. Docimo served as Chief of the Pediatric Urology Division and as Director (Founder) of the ACGME-approved fellowship program in pediatric urology. His clinical and research interests include minimally invasive surgery in children, vesicoureteral reflux, voiding dysfunction and techniques of continent urinary tract reconstruction especially in children with neurogenic bladder, and bladder exstrophy. He has written more than 300 papers, chapters, books, videos and published abstracts.
Dr. Docimo currently serves on the Boards of Children's Hospital, the Children's Hospital Foundation, Children's Community Pediatrics (a primary care corporation) and the UPMC Corporate and Captive Insurance Program. He earned a BS degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, an MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and has recently completed his MMM degree at the Heinz School of Carnegie Mellon University. He trained in Urology at the Harvard Program - Longwood, Pediatric Urology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and served as an active duty urologist at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia.
