Biosketch
Andrew Bernard, MD, FACS is a Frankfort native. He was educated entirely at UK-undergraduate, medical school, student fellowship in pathology, general surgery residency, research fellowship and trauma fellowship. He currently serves as the Trauma Medical Director for UK Healthcare and Section Chief for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery in the College of Medicine. He's President of the Medical Staff. He chairs the ICU Committee and Organ Donation and Transplantation Action Council and Co-Chairs the Transfusion Safety Committee. He's past President of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the nation's largest organization of trauma providers. His favorite activities are taking care of patients, teaching and mentoring-faculty, fellows, residents and students. His motto, for patients and providers, is 'Better every day'.
