Biosketch
Dr. Hunt is Research Professor of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he was affiliated with the National Institutes of Health (NIH, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services), where he served as Director of the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research (2001-2006), Special Assistant to the Director of the National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute (2007) and Research Scientist, National Center for Research Resources (2007-2009). He was Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo Medical School (Toledo, Ohio, U.S.) in 1988-2000. Prior to that, he served on the medical school pediatric faculties of Northwestern University (Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.) in 1975-88 and the University of Minnesota (1970-75). Dr. Hunt received his M.D. from Yale University (New Haven. CT) and his A.B from the University of Rochester, (Rochester, NY).
Dr. Hunt is a neonatologist. His research interests include maturation of respiratory control in neonates, intermittent hypoxia in infants born preterm, pediatric sleep disorders including sudden unexpected infant death, and body composition in infants born preterm.
