Biosketch
Dr. Psychogios is a medical graduate of the University of Athens, Greece. He completed a residency in medical genetics at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and an additional fellowship in clinical molecular genetics at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is an internist and cardiologist from University of Athens, Greece, and Glasgow, Scotland. Before joining UK HealthCare, he held practicing privileges and academic appointments at Mayo Clinic, Vanderbilt University, and Cleveland Clinic. He is certified by the AMerican Board of Medical Genetics, Clinical Genetics.
The Cardiovascular Genetics and Precision Medicine Program at the UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute is a highly specialized program that is the first dedicated cardiogenetics program in Kentucky and the region. The program specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of familial cardiovascular diseases and in researching novel approaches to preventing and treating those diseases.
Psychogios has more than 30 years of clinical experience in internal medicine, cardiology, medical genetics, clinical molecular genetics, and genomic medicine with emphasis in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of familial cardiovascular disorders and complex undiagnosed diseases and conditions. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiogenetic disorders (cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias), cardiovascular and connective tissue disorders (Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, thoracic aneurysms) and in the management of patients with pediatric and adult syndromes, birth defects, developmental disorders, autism, neurogenetic disorders, and cancer.
