Jennifer Twyman graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2017. After struggling with substance use for 20 years, she has not misused any drugs since 2009. Before graduating, Jennifer responded to a call to begin working in the field of Harm Reduction, starting with a year on the mobile Syringe Exchange unit with Volunteers of America. She then took a position with the Syringe Services Program at Louisville Metro Public Health & Wellness, where she has been for the past three years. In February of 2020, she and several community partners began doing weekly harm reduction-based outreach with Louisvilleās unhoused communities. Jennifer is a passionate advocate for using harm reduction to provide stigma-free support and services to people using drugs and/or living in high-risk situations, as well as encouraging the people she works with to become partners in their own advocacy for dignity, health and wellness.
