Angela leads a team of analysts, statisticians, and researchers who use administrative data sets to answer policy questions related to health and human services programs in Kentucky. Utilizing her background in information technology, Angela has managed the data requirements and reporting for several federally funded research projects including awards granted by the National Institutes of Health and other major funders.
One of Angela’s primary areas of expertise involves the use of Kentucky’s Medicaid Management Information System to answer questions that are uniquely well-suited for investigation using Medicaid claims data. Past inquiries have made significant contributions to the Commonwealth’s understanding of the demographic and epidemiological features of its Medicaid population such as studies of claims data involving neonates, pregnant women, and beneficiaries diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder. Angela works at the intersection of database management and healthcare policy, working to translate the latent insights contained within raw data into products that can clarify the decisions that state government officials must make.
