I am originally from a small farming community in the panhandle of Texas. I attended Texas Tech University and TTU School of Medicine. My internship was in general surgery at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, followed by a Urology Residency at Tulane University.
I was a busy solo private practice urologist from 1985-2008 and then as a consequence of Hurricane Katrina I spearheaded the effort to bring some of the urology residents back to New Orleans and subsequently began working with LSU Urology. I transitioned from a limited part time role to full time academics with LSU in 2019. By this time my wife’s Alzheimer's was progressing and I finally accepted the reality that I needed help. My son, John Roger, and his wife were instrumental in assisting my relocation to Lexington where my wife is now in a memory care unit.
I am very pleased to be a part of the really strong group of urologists and trainees. I will be starting a clinic based procedure for benign prostate enlargement and continuing my stone and infertility practice. I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to continue doing what I enjoy.”
