Shawna Donaldson, MSW, CSW

Shawna Donaldson, MSW, CSW, earned her master’s in social work from the University of Kentucky and her bachelor’s in social work from Morehead State University. Shawna is also a Certified Social Worker, licensed in the state of Kentucky.

Shawna Donaldson joined the KY Department of Public, Division of Maternal and Child Health, Early Childhood Promotions - HANDS team in June 2024 as the Human Services Program Supervisor. In her state office role, Shawna provides support to the state team focused on MIECHV, CQI, budget, and general HANDS operations. Shawna’s professional experiences includes over 20 years in early childhood home visiting. Shawna spent 25 years working in local public health (LIA) with 14 of those years managing a HANDS home visiting team while also providing direct services to families. During her time at the LIA, Shawna also delivered HANDS and Growing Great Kids® (GGK) training for the state of Kentucky. Simultaneously, she consulted with Great Kids, Inc.® (a non-profit early childhood curriculum and professional development organization for home visiting/human service practitioners) as a GGK trainer, mentor and QA consultant. For the last 7 years, Shawna was the CEO of Great Kids, Inc.® guiding their growth with building organizational capacity/hierarchy, developing custom data platforms, designing virtual/hybrid training models, and restructuring operational practices.
