Biosketch
Dr. Bowman is a resuscitationist at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Medicine and serves as the medical director of the ICU, PCU and ECMO program at EMRMC. He also serves as EMS medical director for Montgomery Co. Fire/EMS and Garrard Co. EMS.
Dr. Bowman’s 20+ year medical career started in 2004 as a FireFighter/Critical Care Paramedic and EMS educator in Texas. During that time he ran and co-owned a cardiac arrest physiology pig lab for 7 years and ran cardiac arrest focused molecular research on rats at the Texas A&M Department of Molecular Cardiology. As a paramedic he started one of the first prehospital ultrasound programs in the world, taught EMS ultrasound and created novel thermoplastic elastomers for his custom ultrasound trainers. He also worked with Dr. DuCanto to pioneer training models and taught techniques for contaminated airway management using the SALAD technique around the world. He has managed multiple IRB & IACUC approved clinical studies, wrote an Amazon best-selling book on ultrasound and has spoken internationally on the topics of ultrasound, stroke, cardiac arrest physiology and airway management.
In 2023 he founded the first 24/7 ED/ICU based in house ECPR program in the state of Kentucky which ultimately led Gov. Andy Beshear to bestow him with the title of Kentucky Colonel for lives saved. In 2024 he created the MTP program, led the launch of the hospital's first PCU and in 2025 launched the PERT program, as well as helping push forward the process to become a primary stroke center. He is passionate about creating programs that save every life that can be saved.
Dr. Bowman completed his BS in Emergency Health Services at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, his Masters of Medical Science at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and his MD at Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed Emergency Medicine Residency and Medical Critical Care Fellowship training at the University of Kentucky.
