Biosketch
Stacy R Stanifer is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and member of the BREATHE team Additionally Dr Stanifer is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program and Lung Cancer Translational Research Group at the Markey Cancer Center and an associate member of UKCARES Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences Dr Stanifer completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing in 2001 and went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Louisville School of Nursing in 2009 In 2020 Dr Stanifer completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing From the beginning of her nursing career Dr Stanifer has committed herself to providing the very best nursing care to patients with cancer and their caregivers As an Advanced Oncology Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist Dr Stanifer is passionate about elevating the level of cancer care provided to patients through the implementation of evidencebased science Her research interests concentrate on the avoidance of cigarettes and reducing exposure to two environmental carcinogens radon and secondhand smoke as a means of lung cancer prevention In addition Dr Stanifer has an interest in using research to inform health policy In her faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Research Title Series Dr Stanifer will be responsible for conducting research in the areas of environmental risk reduction including radon tobacco cancer prevention and health policy Dr Stanifer is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society Bluegrass Oncology Nursing Society American Nurses Association and Kentucky Nurses Association
