Biosketch
Dr. Yarrison graduated with distinction and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in Philosophy. She earned a PhD in philosophy and a graduate certificate in the study of Women, Gender and Sexuality from Rice University after completing the clinical ethics track, a joint program between Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine.
Before coming to the University of Kentucky, Dr. Yarrison was Assistant Professor of Medicine and Medical Ethics at Baylor College of Medicine where she co-coordinated the Ethics Program at the Methodist Hospital, Texas Medical Center and was responsible for aspects of both graduate and undergraduate medical ethics education.
At UK, Dr. Yarrison is a clinical ethics consultant covering all of UK Healthcare and is responsible for ethics-related education at all levels of the institution.
She has given numerous presentations, both nationally and internationally, on a wide variety of ethics-related topics.
Dr. Yarrison is the founding Director of the Kentucky Healthcare Ethics Consortium (KYHEC).
