Biosketch
Dr. Sorrell earned an MD from St. George's University, School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and completed residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his Adult Cardiovascular Fellowship Training in at the University of Texas Medical Branch and Advanced Noninvasive Cardiology and Heart Failure at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He studied cardiovascular MRI at the Royal Brompton Heart Hospital in London, England.
Dr. Sorrell is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease, the Certification Boards of Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and the National Board of Echocardiography. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, and an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the Association of Professors of Cardiology and an elected member of the prestigious Association of University Cardiologists.
Dr. Sorrell has published more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and scientific abstracts, edited 5 books and more than 25 book chapters. He sits on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Echocardiography and was just appointed as the Editor in Chief of CASE: A Cardiovascular Imaging Case Report journal for ASE.
